The Cleaner Road Runoff Project was an innovative study developed by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF). The research focused on understanding the characteristics that drive erosion of unsealed roads with the intent to markedly reduce suspended sediments from these roads entering the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.
Joseph Consulting led the Stage 1 Detailed Project Scoping that progressed into the establishment and monitoring of two study sites, one in the Whitsunday Regional Council area and the other in the Gladstone Regional Council area.
The success of the first two stages resulted in GBRF expanding the scope of the research to include study sites within Cassowary Coast, Isaac and Bundaberg Regional Council areas.
Joseph Consulting then led the management of the on-the-ground council delivery teams and coordination of the site establishment and implementation through to the study’s conclusion. The study successfully collected over 250 high and medium confidence Suspended Sediment samples from 5 geographically diverse Council areas.

Jason brought clear and concise project management to the Cleaner Road Runoff Project by assisting LGAQ to develop, implement and report on water quality monitoring associated with unsealed roads across Queensland. Jason managed liaison with multiple stakeholders both in the office and the field and importantly ensured that as the client, GBRF was always well briefed of any issues and highlights. His project reporting was consistently of high quality and on-time. He is a pleasure to work with and sets high standards for himself and the project. I would strongly recommend Jason and Joseph Consulting.
